Environmental Statement
Ironwood Gold Corp. understands the need for a full evaluation of the environmental, economic, and social consequences of new mining projects prior to committing to their development. In addition to complying with or exceeding the highest regulatory standards in effect, Ironwood voluntarily adheres to the philosophy embraced by the Equator Principles.
We seek activity only in mining-friendly jurisdictions whose populations welcome the development of natural resource projects. It is politically and financially fool-hardy to impose a mining project – no matter how airtight a legal case in favour of it might be – upon a community that doesn't want such a project. Ironwood will be a good neighbour wherever it goes.
That said, the benefits that mining can bring to the economic, social and, yes, even environmental well-being to communities and nations is not well understood by the public or by the political and media classes. The remedies for this are two-fold: Be a good corporate neighbour and citizen, and support the endeavours by reputable mining associations to enhance public awareness of the benefits of, and necessity for, a viable resource industry.
